Hominophobia is the fear of men-. Hominophobia is considered to be a specific phobia, Hominophobia, experienced by women, means fear of men and can be difficult to manage. As one develops and engages with life, including family, education, career and social situations, men are prevalent and those suffering from Hominophobia are going to find that it is difficult to avoid them. This phobia can seriously interfere with living and needs to be examined carefully by anyone experiencing a fear of men. Men and women are very different.
This includes development, interaction with others, preferences and biological makeup. Men have a larger infusion of the hormone testosterone and many men love to live a life of adventure. Hominophobia is a clinical phobia characterized by the irrational, persistent, and severe fear of men. Hominophobic patients may be male or female, and may be of any age. Understanding the fear from the perspective of one who does not have the fear has its benefits in empathy potential. Understanding the fear from the perspective of one who has the fear may help in the location of relief.
What Causes Hominophobia?
It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias.
Symptoms:-
There are certainly different degrees of such a fear but it can cause the anxiety symptoms of irregular heartbeat, dizzness, nausea and possibly panic attack which result in the desire to flee the situations which require that the fear be faced.
Treatment:-
Cognitive behavioral therapy:-
This is one of the most rational therapies for treating anthrophobia phobia. This therapy makes the patient realize and understand the fears and the reasons behind those in a more rational and systematic way. In this therapy the patient is taught to think clearly. Though a slow process, this therapy is effective in treating anthrophobia.
