Hormephobia is the fear of shock. In case, shock is a generic term used to describe both when someone receives very bad new or an electrically charge to the body. Hormephobia is considered to be a specific.The term hormephobia is used to refer both to the fear of electric shock and the fear of emotional shock. it is probable that for both fears there was some trauma that occurred early ina person's life whatever happened can cause a person to then become afraid of anything electrical, even afraid of plugging in and unplugging a cord or simply touching an electrical device or appliance. The fear of an emotional shock can begin with an episode such as an accident as an accident.
What are the causes?
It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias.
Symptoms :-
When fear of electrical shock or emotional shock is triggered, there may be the anxiety symptoms of nausea, vomiting, shaking, dizziness, hyperventiona, heartbeat irregularities, and even panic attack,
Treatment :-
Cognitive behavioral treatments:-
Exposure treatment can provide lasting relief to the majority of patients with panic disorder and agoraphobia. Disappearance of residual and subclinical agoraphobic avoidance, and not simply of panic attacks, should be the aim of exposure therapy.
Cognitive restructuring has also proved useful in treating agoraphobia. This treatment involves coaching a participant through a diagnostic discussion, with the intent of substituting irrational, counterproductive beliefs with more factual and beneficial ones.
