Ecophobia is the fear of houses, being in a house, home surroundings and certain items in a house types of items people fear in a house vary, but can be such things as bedooms, bathrooms, appliances, electrical items, the origin of the word eco is Greek meaning house and phobia is Greek meaning fear. Ecophobia is considered to be a specific phobia. Ecophobia is an intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. While adults with econphobia realize that these fear are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing, the feared sitution brings on a panic attack or severe anxiety.

What are the causes?

It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias.

 

Symptoms :-

The symptoms  are breathlessness, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inabilty to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of datachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.
