Domatophobia is the fear of houses or being in a house. The origin of the word domato is Greek meaning house and phobia is Greek meaning fear Domatophobia refers to the conditoin of having an abnormal extreme, and persistent fear home, houses, or being inside a house. The fear of houses is known as Domatophobia for those who suffer from this affliction houses can seem oppressive or dangerous. the fear of being in houses, is less commonly known for most being inside a house provides a feeling of warmth and security, and this is why many people describe their homes as nests or havens for the person who fears being in a house. There can be different reasons for their anxieties, including claustrophobia or even a fear of the house being haunted.

 

What are the causes?

It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias.

Symptoms:-

Domatophobia can lead to a variety of disturbing symptoms such as: Breathlessness; difficulty in thinking or speaking clearly; dizziness; dry mouth; fear of dying, "going mad" or losing control; feeling sick; inability to concentrate, inability to make usually-simple decisions, nausea; palpitations, shaking; sweating profusely; or a severe anxiety attack.

Treatment :-

Domatophobia are a known form of anxiety disorder and may be treated conventionally using cognitive behavioral therapy including exposure and fear reduction techniques. Drugs may also be offered, typically anti-anxiety or anti-depressants - particularly during the early stages of treatment. Other forms of treatment offered may include hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or other similar therapies.
