Atychiphobia is one of the most dangerous phobias, which can make one’s life horrible. Atychiphobia is fear of failure. It is very difficult to understand a person, suffering from this phobia. Atychiphobia is much like any other phobia because it is an irrational fear.
Every sane human being in the world would want anything they do to be successful from regular activities and simple aspirations to the big ones. Like every other phobias, Atychiphobia can be traced from past experiences; experiences that can cause enough trauma to a person for him to develop a phobia like being demeaned or humiliated by parents or other family members and relatives.
Antychiphobia may develop unnoticed. By the time you realized that your fear for failure keeps you from achieving things you already developed a phobia. Those people with this phobia presents with symptoms of feeling of dread, panick, shaking and anxiety. Some of them have palpitations, sweating, nausea, and dizziness and sometimes when in the verge of fear and panic they faint
For a person with a phobia such as fearing that they cannot successfully complete something, means that most people with this phobia will not take on a task unless they are sure they can complete it satisfactorily.
Symptoms:-
Atychiphobia, as with all phobias, is an extreme, irrational fear. Phobias, generally, keep us from enjoying some aspects of life. The fear of failure is often one of the most paralyzing phobias. Sometimes, we're so concerned about failing that we don't try an activity we want to try. Other times our fear of failure is so strong we subconsciously undermine our own efforts so we don't have to continue to try. This is why many have linked it with the fear of success. Like so many other fears, this phobia is often so strong it brings about the very failure that was feared. Atychiphobes generally gather a defeatist attitude out of fear of failing, making them avoid trying to achieve anything due to potentially failing at it. The acute symptoms of atychiphobia, the fear of failure, are much the same as other types of phobias. Symptoms mimic that of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. An overwhelming feeling of anxiety that often leads to an anxiety attack, A variety of sudden digestive issues, Headache, Muscle ache and tension, Hot flashes and sweating,
Treatment:-
Any phobia can be cured with a positive attitude and the willingness to get cured.
Counseling: When someone loses self-confidence, which is exactly what happens in Atychiphobia, the best way is to counsel. By counseling, positivity can be forced in an individual. This will help in coping with the fear of failure.
Support group: Support groups helps to share and communicate with others with similar feelings and fears. Talking out fears lessens the impact of them. This type of support therapy helps patients in gaining the lost confidence in them once again.
