Amaxophobia is the Fear of riding in a car. the origin of the word amaxo is Greek  meaning vehicle and phobia is Greek meaning fear amaxophobia is considered to be a specific phobia, Amaxophobia is also known as hamaxophobia. Each one of us has the tendency to be scared about something which is generally normal. But if the fear is intense and persistent enough to incapacitate a person, among the most common phobias out there are fears of spiders, being a social gathering, flying, and being in small spaces.
Amaxophobia is the strange kind of phobia in which the sufferer fears from riding in a car. The people with this phobia cannot control themselves and starts feeling anxious once they board a car and when the car starts moving. The fear of riding in a car is known as Amaxophobia. This can manifest itself in different ways, including backseat driving, intense anxiety, or avoidance.

Fear of riding in a car is linked with loss of control. When someone else is at the wheel, we relinquish control to them.
Human error with regard to driving is a primary trigger for this discorder.there is many traffic accidents that cause injuries and death. The person who fears riding in a car will think about the worst-case scenarios that might occur each time they are in the passenger or back seat.

Amaxophobia is known as an abnormal and unwarranted fear of riding in a car. This fear may be due to two reasons: previous bad experience or due to poor socialization. Whatever the reason may be, training your child to enjoy riding cars can help him change the negative things they feel about cars, into a positive experience.
Amaxophobia - Fear of riding in a car causes:-
It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias.

Symptoms:-

The symptoms of the fear of riding in cars will include a sense f panic and loss of control. Headaches, dizziness, and other facets of panic attacks will be experienced when the phobia person is confronted with triggers. Nausea and terror may cause the person to become quite debilitated when faced with the prospect of riding in cars

Breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nause dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.

Treatment:-

Traditional psychotherapy can also get at the root of fears and provide relief. Sometimes, having a kind person to talk to about the problem can be very soothing. Anti-depressants may be required to help the person with Amaxophobia cope with the demands of the modern world, where riding in cars is practically a given.
